Contrary to popular belief, women*, and especially single mothers*, are doing more care work than ever before, despite increasing participation in the workforce. Single mothers in particular bear the long-term consequences of care work being distributed unequally and unfairly between the sexes: statistically speaking, they are more likely to be affected by poverty. Care work is not a lifestyle choice! The most vulnerable members of society are cared for, educated, and empowered through care work. This work is underpaid and undervalued.
We will discuss this issue together during our lunch break strike. We are looking for solutions to make care work easier in everyday life and, as a lobby association, we are expressing our political demands.
