Many people believe that equality has long been achieved in Germany. Some even think that feminist struggles have gone too far, arguing that men are now disadvantaged.
A look at our pay slips, our pension statements, and the executive suites and supervisory boards shows very different results: the care work that society cannot do without is predominantly performed by women. This work is honoured on Mother’s Day and in Sunday speeches, but in real life and from a purely economic point of view, it is harshly punished.
The intersectional feminist women’s strike on 9 March 2026 highlights what remains invisible on a daily basis:

• Inequality is politically constructed – not privately caused
• Violence has material roots
• Gender equality requires structural responses
