Folding chair sit-in by Leipzig women* with picnic
“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
Shirley Chisholm coined this phrase.
Even in 2026, women* around the world still need “folding chairs” to get a seat at the table in politics, science, medicine, art, culture, media, religion, or business. We’ve had enough of this!
On March 9, from 12 noon to 2 p.m., we will therefore come to Leipzig Market Square with folding chairs. We will take our seats and say “ENOUGH!” to a system that systematically disadvantages women*, undervalues their unpaid care work, and devalues their achievements.
For us, “ENOUGH! GENUG!” also means picnicking together instead of exploiting each other. We women* know how to live together well. We share because we have enough to give. We talk to each other because we have enough to say. We get creative because we have enough ideas.
We see each other because there are MANY of us who have had “ENOUGH!”
