With artistic and historical references to the global women’s general strike ENOUGH!, actress and theater educator Ursula Zetzmann and sound artist and herstorian Ute Reisner have designed the rooms of the GEDOK Gallery in the style of a flat-share from the 1970s and 1980s.
Books and flyers with demands from the new women’s and lesbian movement, some of which are still relevant today, are on display; music cassettes and records by feminist bands and musicians and political posters encourage reading, reflection and conversation at the kitchen table. Ute Reisner provides insights into the creative process behind her musical radio play, which is based on interviews with contemporary witnesses about lesbian* herstory in Baden-Württemberg from the 1950s to the 1980s. It is being developed as part of the research project “Between invisibility, repression, and lesbian emancipation. Women who love women in southwestern Germany from 1945 to the 1980s.”
