International Women’s Day 2026 in Bischofsheim:
Art in public spaces connects women and society
To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, the Miteinander in der Mainspitze initiative is hosting a creative public event at the Evangelische Gemeindehaus, Darmstädter Str. 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. Under the motto “Making women visible through art,” we are combining lectures, literary inspiration, exchange, and social reflection (including self-defense & violence prevention – “Being visible also means setting boundaries”/ Andrea Treber, deputy director of vhs Mainz/ self-defense trainer LIKAS, presentation by the Office for Women and Equal Opportunities, Groß-Gerau district) .
The focus is on an artistic action in the rose garden: a large tree will be decorated with knitted and crocheted elements in the style of guerrilla knitting. The textile art object symbolizes diversity, solidarity, and the collective creative power of women. A small musical program will accompany the event.

In addition, we are drawing attention to the global women’s general strike on March 9—a day of political action, protest, and saying ENOUGH! Everyone should be able to participate according to their own possibilities and life realities. By laying down paid and unpaid work, we make visible how indispensable the work of women is. Loud, diverse, and creative, we take our ENOUGH! to the streets.
