2% Tax for Billionaires
Statistics strengthen our arguments and remind us why we can not stop saying ENOUGH! and demanding justice.
For example: In 2024, wealth concentration rose to an all-time high. According to Forbes’ Billionaires List, not only are there more billionaires than ever—2,781—but they are also richer than ever, with a combined fortune of $14.2 trillion (see WIRED).
A 2% wealth tax on the world’s richest 3,000 billionaires could raise $250 billion every single year—enough to save lives, protect ecosystems, and fund a just transition to a greener future (see Le Monde and Common Dream).
In 2024 alone, billionaire fortunes grew three times faster than the year before, pushing us closer to a world with the first trillionaires .
Meanwhile, wildfires, floods, and hurricanes are worsening, and millions are suffering. A global billionaire tax could fund urgent climate action, protect frontline communities, and help build a fairer, greener world for all (see +350).
