Men* – Possibilities of Support

How men* can support us

Good news!

A remarkable number of men* have spontaneously agreed to participate in the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN* GENERAL STRIKE on March 9, 2026.
There are precedents for this in strikes in the 19th and 20th centuries, when support was given to legitimate wage demands by women* in nursing professions or in the textile, tobacco, clothing, and food industries.

But now there is more at stake: men* recognize that women* have far more reasons to shout ENOUGH!BASTA! At the same time, they want to formulate their own ENOUGH!YETER! – like ENOUGH!ASSEZ! of male images based on abuse of power, violence, and a lack of empathy.

This could mean more than solidarity and taking over women’s work for a day, although the initial proposals are appreciated:
•“I’m taking March 9 off to take on the paid and unpaid duties of women* at all levels”.
• There is a bulletin board on the website with: 9.3.26: ”Take on wage compensation for paid and unpaid systemically important jobs done by women*.”
• Men could set up a strike fund.

And there is a clear statement:
The women’s strike makes it clear: women are no longer willing to serve as unpaid cooks, cleaners, nannies, family secretaries, or caregivers for the elderly, silently providing the invisible backbone of family and society. This imbalance is systemic – and it is neither fair nor sustainable. As the Federal Forum for Men, we stand in solidarity with the strike and call for a consistent redistribution of work, care, and responsibility. The one-sided fixation on paid employment is also unhealthy for men and prevents all genders from being able to fully share in care, work, and political participation. A society in which these burdens are fairly distributed is a society that benefits everyone.
— Thomas Altgeld, Chair of the Board, Federal Forum for Men

FAQ: Why do we write WOMEN* and MEN* (like in GLOBAL WOMEN* GENERAL STRIKE)?
